The Franklin Police Department is located in City Hall on the court square in Franklin, GA. It is a modern, well-educated, highly competent department consisting of both sworn and civilian personnel. The Franklin Police Department regrets to announce the death of Hilton Hammett Brooks, former Chief of Police for the Franklin Police Department, who passed away on Tuesday, November 25th at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Brooks began his law enforcement career in 1965, after serving his country honorably in the United States Army. His law enforcement career began with the LaGrange Police Department and ended with the Newnan Police Department in 2000. In addition, Mr. Brooks was employed by the Franklin Police Department for over 22 years, during which time he served as the Chief of Police for 10 years. After retiring from law enforcement, Mr. Brooks also worked for Heard County as the Work Detail Attendant.
