Two Charged With Possession & Safety Restraint Violation
During the afternoon hours on Saturday, September 24, 2011, Officer Gary Morgan of the Franklin Police Department was on Georgia Highway 34, when he observed a blue GMC Yukon, occupied with two adults that were not wearing their seatbelts. Upon conducting a vehicle stop based on the observed violations, he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Officer Morgan also observed a young child in the rear passenger seat.
After detecting the odor of marijuana, he requested the assistance of Officer Nikki Chapman. Upon her arrival, the occupants were requested to exit the vehicle where the driver was identified as Brittany Burson and the front passenger was identified as Andropolis Earl. After interviewing both individuals, the officers conducted a search of the vehicle where they located marijuana in the center console and underneath the seat cover. Both individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Heard County Jail.
Andropolis Earl of 319 Cheeks Road, Franklin, GA, was charged with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and safety restraint violation.
Brittany Burson of 319 Cheeks Road, Franklin, GA, was charged with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, safety restraint violation and improperly transferring vehicle registration.
