OPERATION DRIVE SMART EXPO TO BE HELD AT HEARD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL
The Duluth Police Department C.O.P.S. Division in conjunction with the Heard County Sheriff’s Office and the Franklin Police Department will be hosting an Operation Drive Smart Expo for the students at Heard County High School on Thursday, April 14, 2011. The program is brought to the school by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in partnership with the Duluth Police Department. Under a grant through the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Duluth Police Department is able to travel to high schools throughout the state with the Operation Drive Smart Expo. The Drive Smart Expo consists of various stations which discuss the importance of teen safe driving. Such stations include the Duluth Police Department’s Seatbelt Rollover Simulator and DUI Golf Cart, Heard County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Police Department, Heard County Emergency Services (Fire/EMS), Georgia State Patrol Safety Education Unit, the Georgia Motor Trucking Association and Emory Flight/Rescue Air.
Our goal is to reach as many teens as possible through educational intervention. The Expo will be for the students of Heard County High School on April 14, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The event will be held at the school parking lot.
