February 16, 2011 Accident

 

Major Accident on Franklin Parkway

     
     
     

 

A two vehicle accident at the intersection of Georgia Highway 34 and Franklin Parkway, resulted in traffic being detoured for almost an hour, due to an entrapment and debris from the collision. The accident occurred shortly after 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, February 16th, when a vehicle failed to yield at the intersection.

Officer Robert Cameron of the Franklin Police Department witnessed the accident and immediately requested assistance from Heard County Emergency Services and law enforcement. Due to the driver of the Ford Explorer being entrapped and the manner of collision, he was transported by helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center. The driver of the GMC Sierra was transported by ambulance to Piedmont Hospital in Newnan.   

The two individual involved in the accident were released from the hospital that same night and suffered only minor injuries.
