Update On P.T. McCutchen Sr. Bridge Closure
The Franklin Police Department was notified during the afternoon hours on Monday, October 11th that the P.T. McCutchen Sr. Bridge would not close as originally scheduled. The plans were for the bridge to close at 8a.m. on Tuesday, October 12th until the afternoon hours on Tuesday, October 19th.
Chief Kevin Hannah spoke with a representative from Paramount Productions on Tuesday morning, who stated that the new plans are for crews to begin arriving on Wednesday, October 13th at 8a.m. The current plans are for the bridge to remain open but with lane closures until 8a.m. on Thursday, October 14th, at which time the bridge will completely close. The updated schedule indicates that the bridge will remain closed as originally planned, until the afternoon hours on Tuesday, October 19th.
“As the Franklin Police Department is notified of changes regarding the bridge closure, we will immediately notify the public through our website, emails and other local media. We were also informed that the bridge may reopen sooner that originally scheduled depending on the progress made by Paramount Productions. Detour routes and advisories will be posted by Georgia Department of Transportation for motorist who are not familiar with the area,” stated Chief Hannah.
